WWW Wednesdays

I missed this last week so this post actually covers two weeks' time.

To play along, just answer the following three (3) questions…

• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

Current

Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Julie of the Wolves by Jean Craighead George

Recently Finished

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
I read this for two challenges: 1001 Books You Must Read and Wordsworth Classics. I enjoyed this story and look forward to reading more by Bronte.

Watership Down by Richard Adams
"Finished" as in "as good as I'm going to right now". I just couldn't finish this...I have always wanted to read this and didn't make it beyond halfway. So...I had to make a "new" 1972 choice for the Century Challenge and am now reading Julie of the Wolves.

If you Ask Me (Which of course, you won't) by Betty White
I read this for my "I" choice for the A-Z challenge and also for the Memorable Memoirs challenge. I got this book for Mother's Day because I love anything Golden Girls-related. This was a quick and funny read.

Girl with a Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier
I read this as my Gem or Jewel Choice for the What's in a name 4 Challenge. It has been on my TBR list for awhile, mostly because I am intrigued with the cover. I had always thought it would be somewhat heavy reading and avoided it! Big mistake! I found it at Goodwill for 99 cents and decided to give it a chance and I am so glad I did! It's the "story" of the painter Vermeer and his inspiration for the painting of the same name.

Coming Up

by Markus Zusak

For some reason, I didn't do this last week so this covers two weeks time. I also want to add that my car ended up dying (needed a new battery and spark plugs) so a family friend had it to fix so I wasn't able to finish Jane Eyre. I borrowed my mom's 1995 Grand Am and it doesn't have a CD player. I am so close too; I'm on disc 19/18!

Currently Reading:

Watership Down
by Richard Adams
I just started this over the weekend and have not had a lot of time to read since so I am not too far into it.

Recently Finsihed:

The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides
I have to start off by saying this was probably one of the strangest written books I have ever read and having said that, I did really enjoy it. It's the story of 5 sisters who commit suicide within the same year and I never did really figure out who's point of view the story was from but it was good.

Saving Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
Tucker finally finished this series in school so I was also "allowed" to finish it! I have to say that I liked the ending. I'm not always happy with series' endings but this one felt good.

Dirty Secret
by Jessie Scholl
Besides being interesting to me, I read this book as my "D" choice in the A-Z challenge and as part of the Memorable Memoirs Challenge. It was the stroy of a woman who tries to help her mother who is a hoarder and how she comes to terms with it and her own issues. Very good book.

Coming Up:

Well, as I mentioned I have been without my car and CD player sbut I get it back tomorrow so I will be finsihing Jane Eyre and moving onto Uncle Tom's Cabin (my June choice for Celebrate the Author) as far as audio books. Next up for actual books is Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Greene

Currently Reading:

Dirty Secret by Jessie Sholl
A great book about a woman trying to deal with her mother's hoarding behavior when her mother gets diagnosed with cancer.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
I'm now on disc 10/18 and am still enjoying this!

Recently Finished:

Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt
I read this for my "war" choice for the Back to the Classics Challenge. This was the story of a young boy growing up on his family's farm in Illinois through the five years of the Civil War. It turns out it is based on the life of the author's grandfather-which made it even more fascinating!

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
The final book in The Hunger Games trilogy and I enjoyed every minute of it! I am so glad I took the time out to read the trilogy!
